ALICE TAYLOR, OWNER
Alice Huang Taylor co-founder of AcuSpa and Massage School of Pasadena has a strong background in education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Social Ecology degree from the University of Irvine, California and a Masters of Science in Counseling with an option of School Psychology.
Alice spent most of her 20’s in the classroom as a teacher and later as a school psychologist. Her goal and passion was to help every child reach their fullest potential in the classroom. In her 30’s, Alice served as the Director of an after school program where she created and implemented both academic and social programs that balanced the responsibility of homework and the need for kids to play. This director experience was the perfect launch pad for the opening of her own school, Massage School of Pasadena in 2006.
“Before my husband and I opened MSP, we opened AcuSpa, a boutique spa in Pasadena. There I was able to see, first hand, how powerful massage therapists can be. They had the skills to pamper, heal, and connect with people and in turn, was well compensated for their services. The idea that we can open a school that can teach these empowering skills was inspirational. Since MSP’s birth, we have seen students passionate about the field of health and wellness become sought after massage therapists working in spas, gyms, physical therapy offices and chiropractor offices. Many of these students have gone on to open their own businesses.
In addition to the serious health advocates, MSP has served: stay at home moms, looking for part time work, people who needed a supplemental income, college students needing to put themselves through school, actors and writers who needed part time work that won’t get in the way of their pursuit, retirees looking to do more significant work, personal trainers and estheticians looking to expand their skill set and so many others who have chosen massage as a meaningful career. It’s wonderful to be a part of this process.”
